The Rogers family has been in Northern Nevada for the last five generations. Family patriarch Garry Rogers has been a barber in Sparks for nearly 40 years, and has been, along with his two brothers, an Indian World Champion Team Roper. Originally from Mason Valley, NV, he has also served as president of the Western States Indian Rodeo Association (WSIRA), as well as president of the Nevada/Idaho chapter of the American Cowboys Team Roping Association (ACTRA).
His wife Cheryl Ferretto Rogers, a Sparks High graduate, is the daughter of the late construction mogul & roping producer Ray Ferretto and Ruby Young Lavery of historic Genoa, NV. Cheryl was heavily involved in 4-H, gymkhanas, and won both titles of Miss Reno Rodeo & Miss Rodeo Nevada, along with serving as the founding president of the Nevada Women’s Team Roping Association.
Their son Ty Rogers has been involved in both 4-H and high school rodeo & was a Nevada State High School Rodeo Association Team Roping Champion and WSIRA Rookie of the Year. He also serves as a director for ACTRA. He attended Central Arizona College on a rodeo scholarship, and after living in Arizona for many years returned home & now manages ROGERS COWBOY SUPPLY.
